Bob Laventure

 
 

Bob Laventure  Dip Phys Ed, B.Ed and M.Ed
Consultant – Older People Programme

Bob has a background in physical education and exercise promotion and formerly worked with the Health Education Authority, England. He has been working with the BHF National Centre since it opened in 2000 and leads their programme for older people and physical activity. He is the author of the Active for Later Life resource and leads the Senior Peer Health Mentoring and  Moving More Often programmes. He is a member of the National Coalition for Active Ageing in England and is a director of Later Life Training Ltd a company which provides training for exercise and health professionals in exercise for older people.

Bob has worked with a number of national and international working groups including Age Concern England’s Ageing Well Advisory Council, the European Health Enhancing Physical Activity Programme, the World Health Organisation, the American College of Sports Medicine and the International Coalition on Active Aging.

In 1997 Bob received a Special Achievement Award from the Exercise Association of England, in 2001 was awarded the Fellowship of the Physical Education Association of the United Kingdom and in 2006 the Agile Certificate of Recognition from the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists working with Older people.

A lifetime involvement in swimming and basketball and a passion for French rugby are only surpassed by the increased physical activity levels brought about by playing with his two grandchildren, Harry and Isabel.
