Active Ageing Events Programme

Active Ageing Events Programme

The Active Ageing Events Programme has been developed by the BHFNC to support the Department for Work and Pensions' Full of Life campaign and UK Older People's Day which will take place on the 1st October 2010.

The Active Ageing events are designed to target all older people 65+ and the programme is designed to:

  • Provide a national and local profile to celebrate and promote the concept of Active Ageing;
  • Provide support for local Active Ageing events and programmes;
  • Stimulate debate and policy on active ageing; and
  • Ensure that older people are included in celebratory events and festivals designed to leave a health and physical activity legacy for the 20 12 London Olympic games and similar events.

To support national and local partnerships and agencies who wish to stage their own local events, we have developed a series of resources available at our dedicated microsite: www.active-ageing-events.org.uk. These resources provide advice and guidance on planning local events and include The Active Ageing Coordinator's Planning Guide, Active Ageing Ideas for Action and a range of promotional materials plus lots more!
