New Go For Gold Resources

New Go For Gold Resources

BHFNC and the National Association for Providers of Activities for Older People (NAPA) have launched resources for the Go For Gold 2012 challenge.

Go For Gold is a UK wide programme which is designed to involved older adults in the legacy celebrations offered by the London Olympic Games and the World Congress on Active Ageing in Glasgow. Through this programme, residents and staff in older peoples care homes are encouraged to increase their physical activity levels over a period of time, not just for a single event.

Residents can be involved in a choice of five physical activity challenges. Go For Gold caters for all activities levels, so residents can chose to be involved in all of them or just try one. The challenges are:

  • Try-athlon challenge
  • Senior Games challenge
  • Dance With Me
  • Walk With Me challenge
  • Plan your own physical activity challenge
