Andrew Lansley replaced as Health Secretary

Andrew Lansley has been replaced as Health Secretary by Jeremy Hunt as part of an extensive government reshuffle.

The Prime Minister’s cabinet reshuffle sees Jeremy Hunt move from his former position as Culture Secretary to take charge at the Department of Health.

Mr Hunt said: "I'm incredibly honoured. It is a huge task and the biggest privilege of my life."

Mr Lansley has been the architect of reforms to the NHS in England, which have at times been controversial.

Other ministers whose roles relate directly to physical activity and health remain unchanged.
