Flames: Lighting the way
Flames: Lighting the way
Flames: Lighting the way is an Olympic and Paralympic value driven programme, delivered by young leaders, centred around physical activity and health and incorporating the Olympic and Paralympic values. It is a joint initiative between the British Heart Foundation National Centre and Loughborough College with funding from the British Heart Foundation.
London 2012 Inspire Mark
The programme has received the much sought after London 2012 Inspire Mark. The Inspire Mark recognises projects that are inspired by the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and that encourage people to take part and participate in physical activity.
How does it work?
Flames: Lighting the way works on a model of cascade training. Flames Tutor Training is provided free of charge to key staff who work with young leaders and volunteers. Once young leaders have been identified they receive training from their tutor to enable them to deliver physical activity sessions to younger children in schools or clubs.
