Previous Research and Evaluation Projects
- The evaluation of the Eastern and Coastal Kent Primary Care Trust Exercise Referral Programme aimed to retrospectively assess patient experience of the exercise referral scheme through the analysis of baseline and follow-up assessment data from over 6000 participants and follow-up interviews with a sub-sample of patients. This project was completed in October 2008. Click here to download the final report
- Testing of the Department of Health's Physical Activity Care Pathway (PACP) involving 15 General Practices across London to assess the feasibility of implementation. This involved patient tracking, a practice survey, focus groups and interviews with health professionals, and an economic analysis. - Evaluation of the Eastern and Coastal Kent PCT Health Walks scheme . This involved a survey with all registered walkers and volunteers, aimed at gaining an insight into participants' motivation for taking part in the community walking scheme, factors influencing adherence, and perceived benefits of the scheme. This project was completed in February 2009.
- Independent appraisal of Sustrans' monitoring and evaluation framework for the 'Travel Actively Portfolio'. The Portfolio involves eleven organisations who are delivering 50 individual projects in 9 project clusters around active travel (walking and cycling) in worksites, schools and community setting across the UK .
- National Institute of Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) systematic reviews of effectiveness of a range environmental interventions aimed at increasing physical activity. Undertaken in collaboration with Oxford University . Download this report from the NICE website.

- Well@Work was a 3 year national worksite programme involving 11 projects incorporating 32 organisations across diverse sectors using qualitative and quantitative research methods to assess changes in behavioural, health-related and business-related outcomes. This project also explored barriers associated with implementation, success and the sustainability of workplace health programmes.

- Development of a Workplace Health Evaluation Toolkit to assist those interested in and undertaking evaluation of a workplace health promotion project. Undertaken for Sport England in conjunction with Well@Work.
- Audit of Exercise Referral Schemes across England and Scotland to establish a benchmark of current practice and identify examples of best practice. Data collected from 112 schemes and involved consultation meetings with approximately 300 health professionals invovled in service delivery to assess curtrent practice in scheme delivery and evaluation in the UK .
